Accidental PIT Maneuver Leads To Rollover Crash

Accidental PIT maneuvers happen surprisingly often, but rarely do they cause accidents this extreme.

As you can see in this dashcam video noticed by Redditors, a driver was traveling on a busy highway when a Honda Accord decided to change lanes in front of them. This typically wouldn’t be an issue, but the Accord driver decided to change multiple lanes without looking.

As fate would have it, a first-generation Lexus IS was traveling in the far left lane and nearly got sideswiped by the Accord. The Lexus driver swerved to avoid a collision, but apparently freaked out and lost control of the car.

This caused the Lexus to slam into the rear quarter panel of the Accord, effectively replicating a PIT maneuver. Both cars then hit the concrete divider and this sends the Lexus into a 360° spin.

The driver of the Accord had it far worse as their car partially climbs the divider and then flips over before temporarily landing on its side. The car is still spinning as this occurs and the sedan eventually flips right side up.

There’s no word on the condition of the drivers, but accident was pretty extreme as even the Lexus suffered significant damage to its front and rear ends. It’s hard to see how the Accord fared, but it’s probably safe to assume it’s a complete loss.
