Dead bodies of dacoit Babli Kol and his companion Lovalesh have been recovered from the Ledri forest in Vindhya region of Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The Satna police claimed to have killed them in an encounter. A reward of Rs 7 lakh was announced on Babli's arrest and Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand on his friend and gang member Lovalesh.
The bodies have been found in the forest which falls in between the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier it was reported that Babli Kol was killed in a gang war on Sunday night, but now the police have claimed to have killed Babli and his companion in a police encounter.
As per earlier reports, a brawl between Babli's gang and other gang was started over ransom money and the dacoit leader was killed in a gang war, but now police have rejected all such claims.
As per the updates, police has fired 35 rounds of bullets during the encounter while the dacoits fired just 16 rounds.
Who was Babli Kol?
Babli Kol hailed from a village near Manikpur in Uttar Pradesh and been giving a tough time to police of both states- MP & UP. He was arrested by the police in 2006 on charges of robbery. After serving six-month of imprisonment, he was set free and he started dacoiting and kidnapping. In the year 2007, he did his first robbery in Kamayani Express near Manikpur railway station.
More than two dozen kidnapping cases and murders case were registered against him.
