Jaipur: Robbers target jewellery shop, owner shot at

Jaipur: A 30-year-old jeweller is battling for life after robbers shot at him in Jhunjhunu on Sunday and decamped with gold and silver jewellery worth several lakhs of rupees.
Police said four robbers barged into Jatin Soni’s shop under Kotwali police station area, broke the display glass of the counter and packed all the jewellery into their bags. Seeing Soni trying to take away the CCTV’s DVR record, the robbers fired at him.
A profusely bleeding jeweller was later taken to a nearby hospital where doctors have referred him to Jaipur. The bullet hit his lower back.

Jhunjhunu SP Gaurav Yadav told TOI that all the accused have been identified and separate teams have fanned out across the city to track them down. “The accused had come in a car which we have identified based on the CCTV footage and statements of the witness,” he said. The incident triggered a wave of panic in the area. “The accused will be arrested soon we have valuable tips on the accused,” Yadav said.
Sources informed TOI that Soni is under observation, “Next few hours are critical for him, doctors have put him in the ICU,” an official said.
