TO THE EDITOR:
I enjoyed reading "Don't kill the Land Cruiser, just return it to its roots" (Richard Truett, Sept. 2).
I couldn't agree more! Personally, I am looking for a fun vehicle, and although an Audi or a classic Mercedes would be my go-to adult dream choice, the older I get, the more "fun" seems appropriate to escape the hectic days of life.
Should Toyota go back to their roots and bring out a classy 1969-like model, it would give the popular Jeep a good run for its money and have a very good chance to compete for a piece of the rugged-terrain pie. Not only that, but today's world likes options, and if Land Cruiser decides to keep the old model leather seats as a possible feature item, that would offer a personalized touch to the whole idea of bringing options to the masses.
After all, this urban jungle I live in, which they call the political Beltway, needs me having the right equipment to handle these roads least traveled. Not to mention, winters are brutal! My money is on Toyota taking a healthy risk to become the competition.
