PATNA: Amid mounting tension in the NDA over its CM face, leader of opposition in state assembly and RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s younger son
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday indicated that there was no room for Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) in the Mahagathbandhan.
Hours after RJD national vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh hinted at Nitish’s return to Mahagathbandhan, Tejashwi said the CM had earlier betrayed RJD as well as the BJP.
“Nitish has entered into alliance with every political party in
Bihar and betrayed everyone. He will continue to do so. Chair is first and last preference for him,” Tejashwi tweeted.
He added, “Nitish has no ideology and policy. He always kept saying that his party is against triple talaq and Article 370, but helped BJP at the time of voting on the two issues in Parliament.”
Earlier in the day, Tejashwi took a dig at BJP on the issue of “not having a CM face” in Bihar. “BJP calls itself the largest party in the world but it is strange that they don’t have any CM face for the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar. Nitish sought votes on the name of PM Narendra Modi in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election but the BJP does not have a CM face in Bihar. Nitish can never deny that he sought votes on the name of Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections,” Tejashwi told reporters.
He also slammed deputy CM
Sushil Kumar Modi, saying the latter never allowed the saffron party to take the lead in Bihar. “BJP remained a ‘hanger’ in Bihar because Sushil Modi never allowed it to come forward. Sushil Modi is more a Nitish’s man than that of BJP,” Tejashwi said.
Earlier, RJD national vice-president Raghuvansh told reporters at Patna airport on Saturday morning that the relations between BJP and JD(U) have turned sour and the statements being given by BJP functionaries are a plot to set sideline Nitish. “We will start such a movement that everyone will be compelled to join us,” he said.
On a recent statement made by BJP MLC Sanjay Paswan that Nitish should allow someone from the BJP to become CM, Raghuvansh said, “Nobody says anything in BJP without the consent of their senior most leaders. It is not like the RJD where people are free to express their opinions. Sanjay Paswan as well as C P Thakur have given statements on Nitish upon consent from their top leaders.”
Meanwhile, Tejashwi also held a meeting with RJD workers on ongoing membership drive of the party on Saturday. “We are trying to rope in as much youth as possible as they are the future of the nation,” he said.
JD(U) spokesperson Sanjay Singh, however, said Nitish broke the alliance with RJD on the issue of corruption. “Nitishji has never compromised on crime, corruption and communalism. That is precisely the reason that forced JD(U) to sever ties with RJD. Tejashwi should remember that he and his elder brother
Tej Pratap Yadav won in 2015 assembly elections on the name of Nitishji only,” Sanjay said.
