CM sees Sangh ploy in Shah’s Hindi stand

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan came down heavily on Union home minister Amit Shah for his statement to make Hindi as the national language. “This is a declaration of war against the human hearts loving their mother tongue as their own mother,” the chief minister said.
“It is nothing but an agenda of Sangh Parivar and now the BJP government at the Centre is bringing up this issue to cover up their failures and other issues. Even after there is countrywide protest against the attempt to make Hindi a national language, the Centre is not ready to back out from it, which is highly condemnable,” Vijayan said.
“India is a nation that recognises different languages. The Sangh Parivar should withdraw from the move to disrupt them. The Sangh Parivar should understand that such moves to divert attention from important issues faced by the country and the people are identified,” Pinarayi said.

“The Sangh Parivar is opening a new conflict venue in the name of language. The notion that Hindi can unite the country is utter nonsense. The people of south and north east states are not Hindi-speaking people. Making Hindi their national language is like removing their mother tongues. It is a declaration of war against the hearts of a man loving their mother tongue as their own mother. Hindi is only recognized as the official language of India and it is a fact that crores of people speak Hindi in our country. There is no serious dispute in the country in the name of language. No Indian citizen should feel that he is not an Indian because he does not speak Hindi. India is a nation that recognizes different languages,” the CM said.
When the country is facing several crucial issues concerning the basic needs of the common man, the attempt to divide the people over language is not justifiable, he added.
