MOHALI: The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (Gmada) received 87 complaints from residents of Mohali district on its WhatsApp number within 19 days. Out of the 87 complaints, most of them were centered around the cleanliness and sewerage issues, and problems faced in allotment procedures of properties.
As per data, 40 cases have been resolved till now and 47 are pending. To redress the grievances, Gmada had come up with a 24x7 WhatsApp number, 7888696869, on August 25, through which residents can send their complaints.

According to the officials, the WhatsApp number not only helps people file their complaints, but has also been helping them know the status of their case. Residents can also file their feedback. The officials further added that some of the issues are resolved in 48 hours, while some take more time.
Gmada chief administrator Kavita Singh said, "The grievances of the residents are being resolved. Earlier, residents used to go to different departments with their complaints due to which fetching status report became difficult. Not, tracking the status of complaints has become easier. Not only on WhatsApp, we are also resolving issues on e-mail." Sometimes, 10% of the complaints received are related to MC, she added.
