RAJKOT: A total of 705 counterfeit currency notes have been deposited in the
cash deposits of different branches of
HDFC Bank in Rajkot in the past six months.
According to the complaint lodged by Devang Mota, senior manager with HDFC Bank’s Bhaktinagar branch, many customers, whose numbers and identity cannot be ascertained, had deposited counterfeit notes.
“Mota said that during the checking of cash deposited between March and August this year at different branches of the bank in Rajkot, a total of 705 counterfeit currency notes were found which included 40 notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, 36 each of Rs 500 and Rs 200 denominations, 481 of Rs 100 denomination, 103 of Rs 50 denomination, eight of Rs 20 denomination and one Rs 10 denomination note,” said an official from Bhaktinagar police station.
