Rape accused MLA is close to Lalu Prasad: Sushil Kumar Modi

PATNA: The Ara minor girl’s sexual abuse case got political overtones on Saturday after deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi alleged that the prime accused in the case, Arun Kumar Yadav, the RJD MLA from Sandesh in Bhojpur district, has closely been associated with incarcerated RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
“Arun Kumar Yadav is the same person who had purchased four flats in the apartment named after RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s mother late Marachhia Devi near Danapur with huge money he amassed through illegal sand mining. The flats were purchased in the name of the MLA’s sons Rajesh Ranjan and Dipu Kumar and wife Kiran Devi besides his firm Kiran Durga Constructions Pvt Ltd,” Modi said.
Modi, who is credited with exposing the unaccounted wealth of Lalu Prasad and his family members, said the flats in Marachhia Devi Commercial Complex were sold for Rs 2.56 crore on June 13, 2017. The money against the flats was paid to former CM Rabri Devi, he alleged in a press statement issued on Saturday.
Describing the RJD as a party that patronized people having cases related to rape and murder pending against them in different courts, Modi said that the party (RJD) would not take any disciplinary action against the sitting MLA.

Modi’s remarks came a day after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against the RJD MLA by a court at Ara in Bhojpur district in connection with the minor’s rape case.
Leader of opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, however, parried questions on the disciplinary action against the Sandesh MLA. Another RJD functionary said the MLA in question has been dragged into controversy out of political vendetta. “He (MLA) has been implicated in a false and concocted case,” he alleged.
