Old age home inmates relish Kaifi Azmi’s songs

Nagpur: ‘Khazana’, a musical programme organized by ‘Soham’ Old Age Home, based on the songs written by Kaifi Azmi gave the inmates of old age home moments to cherish for a long time, at Hamsa Hall, Sitabuldi, on Saturday.
The programme in which 18 songs were presented commenced with ‘Betaab dil ki tamanna yehi hai’, sung melodiously by Prachi Dani. ‘Dheere dheere machal’ was the next one presented by Prachi that won repeated rounds of applause. Prachi and Prashant Paraskar mesmerized the audience with ‘Jis din se maine tumko dekha hai’.
Saurabh Daga received appreciation for the song ‘Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho’ from the film ‘Arth’. Daga also presented ‘Jhuki jhuki si nazar’.
‘Tum jo mil gaye ho to ye lagta hai’, a duet by Chintan Deopujari and Swastika Soni, was liked by the audience. Songs like ‘Simti si sharmai si’ and ‘Mana ho tum behad haseen’ by Paraskar impressed.
Old melodies ‘O beqarar dil’, ‘Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam’, ‘Tumhari julf ke saaye mein’, ‘Yeh duniya yeh mehfil’, ‘Yeh nayan dare dare’ and ‘Hai tere saath meri vafa’ were well-received.
Anchor Shraddha Bharadwaj said the words Kaifi Azmi used were like pearls which suited the theme of the songs and the film scenes. She recited some beautiful lines from Azmi’s poetry that had the audience in awe.

‘Soham’ is an initiative to bring about a change in society. It is more than just an old age home as it provides various facilities to make the life of its inmates comfortable.
