In a district-wide drive to remove illegally erected banners, flex boards and hoardings, seven teams of policemen formed by Superintendent of Police R. Sakthivel have taken action against people who had put up banners without permission and in a way that would cause hindrance to traffic movement and the general public.

The Dindigul police also registered 20 cases against the people concerned and removed hoardings, including the ones put up by political party functionaries apart from banners of weddings and other private functions, as per the directive of the Madras High Court.

Recently, a techie girl was killed in a road accident in Chennai in which a hoarding erected by the ruling party fell on her. The SP has also announced severe action against people flouting the rules to put up banners.
