Woman dies in accident
A 45-year-old woman riding pillion on a motorcycle died after a mini goods carrier dashed against the vehicle on the Tiruchi - Pudukottai national highway near Gundur on the city’s outskirts in the early hours on Sunday. Police identified the victim as R. Mallika of Vadakipatti village near Tiruchi.
Police said the woman was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by her son R. Sathish. The mother and son were on their way to Pullambadi to attend a function when the fatal accident occurred. The mini goods carrier transporting fish had come in the opposite direction and dashed against the motorcycle causing the death of the woman on the spot and injured her son. The freight vehicle was seized and its driver Angusamy named as the accused. The Navalpat police are investigating.
