NASHIK: District collector Suraj Mandhare has directed all the agencies to get their works under Jalyukta Shivar sanctioned before the model code of conduct for the assembly elections comes into force.
Mandhare issued the directive during a meeting with officials of various departments to review the water conservation scheme.
The officials of forest, water resources, agriculture and water conservation departments gave presentations on the ongoing works in the district. These departments are playing a key role in implementing scheme.
The works under the scheme include deepening and de-silting of water bodies and depositing the silt in farms and near plantation. If required, cement weirs are to be constructed to stop the flow of water besides undertaking groundwater recharge activities near wells and water bodies.

Since in the monsoon began, none of the works could be carried out. The same are likely to begin only after the levels in water bodies goes down or after the monsoon ends.
“Once the poll code comes into force, none of the works would be sanctioned. Hence, the clearances should be taken before that,” superintendent of agriculture, Nashik, AG Padwal quoted the district collector as saying during the meeting.

In case of geo-tagging of works, the process was completed for 5,119 projects out of 5,409 and the administration has asked the officials to speed up the process.
The geo-tagging of works done through a mobile application from the work site takes into consideration the longitude and latitude of the spot discouraging double entry of the works and also helps in getting the real time updates of the same.
