GREATER NOIDA: Three men were booked for allegedly setting a 27-year-old man’s
house on fire a week after he stopped them from raping two women in Jewar’s Falenda village.
Bhim, 24, is a guard at a private farm in the village. On Monday, he was asleep in his shanty in the afternoon when a burning ember fell on his chest.
“He rushed out and saw the men he had stopped in their attempt to
rape two women. They thrashed him and fled the spot when neighbours started gathering after seeing the smoke,” Vinod Kumar, Bhim’s employer, said. Bhim was hospitalised with burn injuries on his chest.
Vinod filed a police complaint, alleging that the accused had visited his farm a week ago when the guard stopped their attempt to rape two women. “The attack was an act of retribution,” he said.
“Bhim said he had seen the accused with four other men, attempting to rape two women, a week ago. He had intervened and stopped them. They had run away then,” Firoz Khan, senior sub-inspector at Jewar, said.
A case has been registered against Shiv Kumar, who hails from the same village, and two other unknown men under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC.
The accused have not been traced yet.
“They are being tracked. We will arrest them soon,” Khan said.
