Earlier, the Hospital Monitoring Committee on February 28, 2019, had instructed KEM hospital to run the stores themselves. “The hospital has agreed to run the stores themselves and is currently in process of terminating contracts with the third party who is running the drug stores currently. They have asked for some time from us to complete the legal process. This will increase the income of the hospital and eventually increase the amount of Indigent Patients Fund.”
Dr VL Yemul, Medical Administrator of KEM hospital in the letter, said, “There are four drug stores at the hospital and out of this, the main and big drug store is run by the hospital itself. The remaining three drug stores are smaller in size and are outsourced to a third party. The outsourced parties running the stores will take time to wind up the store, as provided by the notice period. We assure that from the beginning of the year 2020, KEM will have completely self-run medical and drug stores.”
