Four unions of bank employees have announced a two-day nationwide strike from September 26 to protest against the announcement of the merger of 10 state-owned banks. We want to let you know that 26 September is Thursday and 27 September is Friday. Due to the strike on both these days, banks will not work. There will be the fourth Saturday on September 28 and a Sunday holiday on September 29. In this way, if there is a strike, then all the government and some private banks will be closed for four consecutive days, due to which you may have trouble.

Chan unions of bank employees have called for a two-day strike from midnight of 25 September to protest against the announcement of the merger of ten public sector banks. Also, the bank unions have threatened to go on an indefinite strike from the second week of November against this scheme of unification of banks.

The strike has been called by All India Bank Officers Confederation, All India Bank Officers Association, Indian National Bank Officers Congress and National Organization of Bank Officers.

AIBOC (Chandigarh) general secretary Deepak Kumar Sharma said that nationalized banks across the country would be on strike from midnight of 25 September to midnight of 27 September.

The government has announced the merger of 10 nationalized banks to form four large banks. Under this, United Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce will be merged with Punjab National Bank. After this, the bank coming into existence will be the second-largest public sector bank.

Similarly, Syndicate Bank will be merged with Canara Bank. Allahabad Bank is to be merged with Indian Bank. Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank will be merged with Union Bank of India.
