PATNA: The
Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) has directed all district magistrates (DM) to keep a check on the
noise levels during the upcoming festive season.
In a letter sent to the DMs, BSPCB member secretary Alok Kumar has asked them to make sure that
Durga Puja committees are issued licences only on the condition that they adhere to the government rules related to the use of loud speakers, musical instruments and crackers during
festivals.
The use of loud speakers has been banned within 100 metre radius of high court, civil courts, secretariat, educational institutions, hospitals and nursing homes.
BSPCB public relations officer Birendra Kumar said, “In other areas, use of loud speakers will be banned from 10pm to 6am.”
