GORAKHPUR: In a bizarre incident, a 30-year-old woman while talking on phone unknowingly sat down on a pair of snakes, got bitten and died on way to hospital.
The incident took place in Reyaon village in Gagha police station area in
Gorakhpur district on Saturday.
Reports said Gita, wife of Jai Singh
Yadav who works in Thailand, was talking to her husband on phone. Her 4-year-old daughter Samriddhi was sleeping with her grandmother. A pair of snakes had entered the house and was apparently mating on the bed, covered with a printed bed-sheet. Gita walked into the room while talking on phone and without seeing the snakes, sat down on the bed. The snakes bit her and within minutes, she fell unconscious.
Her family members rushed her to a private doctor, considered as an expert in treating
snake bite cases, in Dohrighat area.
When her condition deteriorated, the doctor referred her to Mau district hospital, but she died on the way to hospital, Gita’s father-in-law Jai Prakash Yadav told TOI on Thursday.
“The patient was brought in my clinic for treatment but due to her condition, I referred her to Mau district hospital after first aid,” the private doctor said.
“In the last one month, more than five dozen cases of
snake bite have been brought to me,” he added.
