A Friday is normally a joyous occasion for many of us finishing work for the weekend but today is possibly the only time as a nation that we don't look forward to getting that Friday feeling.
Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition with every year having at least one month where it occurs.
Some people even refuse to leave their house on this date for fear something truly awful might happen to them.
It's unknown where exactly the fear of this date originated but some suggest it comes come from the Bible as there were 13 people present at the Last Supper before the crucifixion of Christ.
On the other hand some historians claim it dates further back and the 13th was when Eve bit the apple in the Garden of Eden.
Whatever you believe, it's safe to say the superstition dates back hundreds of years with people convinced that you're more likely to have bad luck on this day than any other.

But now it seems we have another date to worry about - Tuesday the 8th.
It's not quite as catchy and highly unlikely that Paramount Pictures will release a slasher film called "Tuesday the 8th" but according to statistics this is the date that you are most likely to die in the workplace.
Figures released by Health and Safety experts after a 10 year study show that 373 people have died on a Tuesday since 2008 with 84 of them being on the 8th.
This compares to the 327 deaths which occurred on a Friday with 80 of those being on the 13th.
The analysis reveals that the deadliest industry to work in in Wales is agriculture with most people dying after being struck by a heavy object, such as a vehicle or tree.
So for those of you who survived in January this year when the 8th last fell on a Tuesday you might just be unlucky in three weeks time when the date comes around again.
That's if you can through Friday the 13th first.
