Police likely to seek Anant Singh’s remand, again

Mokama MLA Anant Singh
PATNA: Trouble for Mokama MLA Anant Singh has mounted with the Patna police seeking his remand for the second time within a fortnight.
Anant is at present lodged in the Beur jail in an Arms and Explosives Substance Act case. Earlier, he was taken on remand for interrogation in connection with the recovery of an AK-47 assault rifle and two grenades from his ancestral Ladma village under the Barh police station area in rural Patna.
A senior police officer said on Thursday that a petition seeking police remand of the independent MLA was submitted to the Barh sub-divisional court on Wednesday. “The court’s decision is pending,” he added.
The controversial legislator has been accused of hatching a conspiracy to eliminate a noted contractor, Bhola Singh, and his brother Mukesh Singh. The duo had survived a murderous attack on the borders of Patna and Nalanda districts.
Later, three sharpshooters were arrested along with foreign made pistol and other illegal weapons from the Pandarak police station area. An audio of conversation between Anant and the hired goons was also seized by the police.

The FSL report confirmed that the voice sample of the MLA matched with the audio clip. Meanwhile, the investigating officer of the case submitted a 120-page chargesheet against six accused, including Anant’s close aide Lallu Mukhiya, in the Barh sub-divisional court on Thursday.
The police finding didn’t rule out the involvement of Lallu and his associates in the attempt to murder case. "The chargesheet has been filed in the court concerned against six accused in the case,” Pandarak SHO Raman Vashishtha said.
