NEW DELHI: After the Grievance Redressal Cell (GRC) of Jawaharlal Nehru University sent a notice to the election committee (JNUEC) mentioning 10 alleged violations in the recently-concluded students' union polls, the panel has responded saying the elections were conducted within the JNUSU constitution and the Lyngdoh committee report rules and that the GRC's points were invalid.
On September 9, the GRC had sent a notice to JNUEC related to the polls held on September 6. One such allegation was that JNUEC conducted the polls in 10 days, which is in violation of a Lyngdoh committee clause.
JNUEC said, "The schedule followed by the election committee coincided with the one provided by your office on the day of notification of the committee, which completed the process within 10 working days."
GRC had also alleged that JNUEC had declared the final list of candidates without verification of records from the chief of proctor's office and without attendance records. JNUEC responded that on August 29, before the list of final candidates was published, a public notice was released seeking attendance certificates for all candidates, which was duly compiled and submitted to the GRC office on September 3.
Despite several attempts, the Grievance Redressal Cell chairperson Umesh Kadam didn't respond to TOI 's queries.
