ALLAHABAD: Members of the Muslim community took out processions in old city area to mark the 10th day of
Muharram amid tight security arrangements. Several youths were also seen holding the tricolour during processions in Chowk, Dhoomanganj, Kotwali and adjoining areas.
Office-bearers of tazia committees in the city said the Muharram processions were led by people holding tricolour to spread the message of unity in diversity. The historical Bada Tazia processions were taken out from Johnstonganj which passed through Ghantaghar, Bajaja Patti, Sewai Mandi, Kotwali, Nakhas and Himmatganj.
Buddha tazia procession was also taken out through prominent areas including Noorullah road,
Khuldabad crossing, Himmatganj and Karbala. Union minister for minority affairs
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi reached
Karbala near his ancestral village in Bhadari in Saray Mamrez on Muharram and prayed for peace in the country.
