BENGALURU: Soon, you can indulge in an exhilarating adventure at Jog Falls, the second-highest plunge waterfall in India, located in Shivamogga. The Jog Management Authority (JMA) is all set to install a zipline facility so that people can enjoy a panoramic view of Sharavathi River that splits into four cascades, Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer, falling from a height of 830 feet.
Hanuma Naik, deputy director (Shivamogga), tourism department, said the project is estimated to be implemented at a cost of Rs 60 lakh. “It’s expected to complete by the middle of next year,” he said.
A senior JMA official said the zipline will take visitors to a height of 1,000 feet from the Inspection Bungalow area up to the space near Yathri Nivas below. “We recently completed the preliminary survey on points for installation of pillars and other infrastructure. Three parallel ziplines are being planned along which tourists can glide,” he added.

Tourism department officials said the zipline facility will boost the number of visitors at Jog Falls. “Visitors will be able to experience a new face of the falls when they zip amid nature,” said an official.
Though Karnataka has ziplines in places like Kodagu and Uttara Kananda, most of them are short and operated by private players. Jog Falls will have the first full-fledged, government-operated zipline facility in the state.
