Rookie Chase Winovich made his NFL debut last Sunday night and enjoyed his first tackle. He’s being used in pass-rushing situations where his quickness shines through.

“I don’t really have too many nerves," he said. "I think I’m kind of over that at this point. It’s just football for me.

“There’s some gray area but it’s pretty black-and-white. Either I win in the pass rush or I don’t win, and either I cover the guys or I don’t.”

Winovich said he prepared himself for the challenge of the NFL by thinking about how difficult it is even to make the league. He respects the talent of everyone he’ll face.

“Someone told me that the backups on these teams are as good or better than any [offensive] tackle you’ll face in college. That kind of put things in perspective,” he said. “I’m pretty decent at football as well so I’d like to think I can at least give them a run for their money.”
