At 75 identified locations

Police inspectors, sub-inspectors and constables will be deployed in 75 locations to regulate peak hour traffic in the mornings and evenings, the city police announced on Tuesday.

In an official release, police said the officers would manage traffic in the identified locations between 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to avert road accidents and traffic disruptions, the release said. This initiative will come into force from Wednesday, a police officer told The Hindu.

A senior traffic police officer told The Hindu that this was an “experimental” step and not a permanent solution.
