New Delhi: Japanese vehicle manufacturer Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) on Wednesday introduced Bharat Stage 6 emission norm-compliant variant of its popular scooter Activa. The 125-cc engine scooter will be available at a price range of 67,490 to 74,490.

The new variant of Activa will be expensive by more than 10% compared to the one complaint to the Bharat Stage 4 emission norms.

According to senior executives of HMSI, the new Activa will be 13% more fuel efficient than its earlier avatar.

Sales of two-wheelers in India have been declining over the last one year due to increase in the cost of ownership as a result of rising insurance costs and introduction of new safety and emission norms.

“In line with our global vision to lead advancement of mobility, innovation forms the very core of Honda’s DNA. With the new Activa 125 BS6, we have taken a leap ahead in the industry, leading the next revolution powered by superior technology. Honda is making advanced transition to BS6 norms inspired by our global commitment," said Minoru Kato, president and chief executive, HMSI.

“Honda is committed to the government’s policies in encouraging pollution-free environment. The new Activa is loaded with Honda’s superior technology and industry-first features," said Y.S. Guleria, senior vice-president, sales and marketing, HMSI.
