COIMBATORE: A police head constable has been placed under suspension on Tuesday for allegedly stalking a 35-year-old woman. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against Prabhakaran, a head constable from
Periyanaickenpalayam, for waylaying and stalking a 35-year-old woman from
Vanniyan Kovil.
The woman was on her way to meet her relatives at Keeranatham on her scooter when the incident took place.
When she reached near Athipalayam, Prabhakaran stopped her and introduced himself as a head constable. He allegedly told her that she was looking beautiful and her eyes were looking nice.
Immediately, she moved from the place. However, Prabhakaran followed her in a motorcycle. When she stopped her motorcycle and entered a fancy shop at Athipalayam, Prabhakaran also entered the fancy shop where he abused her. She contacted her husband over mobile and informed about the incident.
Her husband, friends and villagers confronted Prabhakaran, who was under the influence of alcohol. The villagers handed over Prabhakaran to the Periyanaickenpalayam police.
However, as the offence took place under the
Kovilpalayam police station limit, she lodged a complaint there.
Following the complaint, superintendent of police
Sujit Kumar placed Prabhakaran under suspension on Tuesday evening and ordered for a detailed investigation against Prabhakaran.
