GURUGRAM: The MCG, in a move that will provide relief to thousands of residents, has directed
DLF to hand over DLF 1, 2 and 3 areas to the civic body within a month. The directive came after
MCG received a number of complaints from the residents who alleged that the developer had failed to provide infrastructure support as promised to the residents.
An MCG official claimed even as the corporation has been sending reminders to DLF seeking submission of completion report of deficit in infrastructure for the last one year now, it has not received any information from the developer yet.
In a meeting led by the director, town and country planning department (
DTCP), it has been decided that DLF will complete the deficit infrastructure in DLF 1, 2 and 3 as per the specifications given in the detailed project report (DPR) and to the satisfaction of MCG. “We have received a large number of complaints from residents on problems in water supply, sewerage, horticulture and sanitation. Residents also pointed out that these issues were not handled by MCG in DLF 1, 2 and 3. We have given the developer a month’s time to complete the work before we take over these areas,” said Hariom Atri, joint commissioner, MCG.
It was earlier reported that the DTCP had been asked to recover the amount from the developer. DTCP will have to recover Rs 14.12 crore, Rs 9.43 crore and Rs 11.89 crore from DLF 1, 2 and 3 respectively. MCG has already prepared the detailed project report for pending work in areas that it had taken over. These areas include Sushant Lok 1, Palam Vihar, South city 1 and 2 and Nirvana Country.
Meanwhile, DTCP said it’s still examining the assets in DLF areas. “We are examining these assets, and soon we will be able to help MCG in the takeover process,” said Sudhir Chauhan, senior town planner, DTCP.
Residents of DLF areas welcomed the move, stating the takeover has been pending since long. “We have been demanding takeover of DLF areas. We are suffering owing to lack of basic amenities,” said Rahul Chandola, a resident of DLF 1.
RS Rathi, MCG councillor, said, “It’s been more than six months that the order to take over DLF 1, 2 and 3 was issued. However, more than 75% work is still incomplete, and as a result residents are suffering.”
