MUMBAI: The civic body received 24,146
pothole complaints between 2013 and 2019 (till July 31). Of these, the municipal corporation claimed to have filled 23,388. The data was given in reply to a Right to Information (
RTI) query filed by Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh from NGO Adhikar Foundation.
He said that according to the data, more than
Rs 100 crore was spent on filling potholes during the period. Of the 24,146 complaints, 2661 were received between April and July this year. Shaikh said 2,268 complaints came in 2013-14 and Rs 45.25 crore was spent on them. "So, was Rs 2 lakh spent on every pothole?" he asked. BMC officials said records would need to be checked to answer that question.
