Mangaluru: A 31-year old
man allegedly
committed suicide by
hanging himself from the
ceiling at his house in
Pandeshwar on Wednesday.
The victim is
Arun Raj, 31, a resident of
Moodbidri. According to police, Arun, who worked as a driver, had come to his grandmother’s house in Pandeshwar New Road. The house was vacant for a long time.
On Wednesday, neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from the house, and when they broke open the door, they found him hanging from the ceiling. The body was completely decomposed, and police suspect that he may have hanged himself in the room on Sunday.
The reason for him taking the extreme step is not known. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South police station in this regard said sources.
4 trucks seized for illegal transportation of sand
The Mangaluru city police have seized four trucks which were illegally transporting sand near Niddodi, Putthige, Kadalakere under Moodbidri police station limits, late on Tuesday evening.
Srinivas R Gowda, ACP, Mangaluru North division, said that acting on a tip-off that trucks are illegally transporting sand to Karkala via the Moodbidri route, police started checking trucks on the route. During the checking, it was found that some trucks were transporting sand without any documents. Police have seized the trucks and handed them over to the mines and geology department. The estimated value of seized sand is Rs 32,000 and trucks is Rs 32 lakh. A case has been registered at the Moodbidri police station.
