Ludhiana: Members of the finance and contracts committee have decided to increase the composition fee of rehris and big commercial vehicles parked on the city roads.
It was decide in a meeting on Tuesday that the composition fee will be doubled than the previous amount.
Also, the fee for organizing any event at the indoor stadium has been increased from Rs 22,000 to Rs 70,000. In the next few days, the MC general house meeting will also take place.
The rates for tempo were proposed to be revised from Rs 2,500 to Rs 10,000, but the committee members decided to increase it to Rs 5,000.
Similarly for Tata 407 type vehicles, the fee was proposed to be revised from Rs 10,000 to 15,000, but the members decided to keep it at Rs 10,000 only.
For the roadside vendors, the rates have been revised from Rs 800 and Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000.
This has been done because the number of such vehicles has increased where people sell eatables on city roads due to which traffic chaos has increases. The idea is to discourage use of commercial and big vehicles on city roads.
Another proposal of laying new sewerage line at Rahon Road at the cost of Rs 3.5 crore has also been approved.
It will help in solving the problem of water stagnation on Rahon Road due to sewerage blockage. The drain passing through Damoria Bridge will also be cleaned.
Pipelines were laid in the drain for drainage of rainwater a few years back, but the size of the pipes was not adequate. Instead of solving the problem of waterlogging, the Damoria Bridge became a major problem for people during the rains.
The MC had spent Rs 55 lakh on the work and now Rs 11 lakh more will be spent to remove the pipelines.
Mayor Balkar sandhu claimed that in two days, 492 resolutions were put up in the meeting and most of the development-related issues were cleared without any problem.
He claimed he had never refused to approve work involving development.
