If you are wondering what this is about, let us tell you.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had a press conference on Tuesday (September 10). While speaking about the slowdown in the auto industry, she said that change in the mindset of millennials is one of the reasons behind the crisis.
According to the Finance Minister, the youth of the country prefer to take an Ola or Uber instead of investing in EMIs to buy a personal vehicle.
Her words were, "Some studies do tell us that mindset of millennials, who are now preferring not to commit an EMI (equated monthly installment) for buying an automobile, instead prefer to take Ola, Uber, everything else, or take the Metro... A whole lot of factors are influencing the automobile sector. We are trying to solve the problem for them."
This statement did not go down so well with millennials and they have been expressing their views in the way they know best: by posting about it on social media.
This is why #BoycottMillennials started trending on Twitter and the tweets that have been doing the rounds range from hilarious to bizarre. Have a look.

However, when asked about what the government is doing to help with the slowdown in the automobile sector, Sitharaman said that the government is talking to the automobile industry to see how it can help them.
