U.S. firm Innolia Energy is giving shape to its plans for setting up solar panels and lithium battery pack manufacturing facilities near Hyderabad with an investment of ₹225 crore.
The company also has plans to get into e-bike manufacturing, something that will entail an additional investment, founder and CEO Arvind Reddy said in a media interaction here on Tuesday.
For now, the company has set the ball rolling for projects to be implemented with an investment of ₹225 crore over the next five years. “We have already invested ₹30 crore for setting up our pilot production facility at Choutuppal that will get into commercial production from October 1,” he said. The pilot production plant will have an installed capacity of 100 MW solar equipment and 200 mega watt hour (MWh) of lithium battery equipment, he said, adding that the headcount at the facility is expected to touch 100 from the existing 25-30.
Simultaneously, the company has kick-started the process of setting up a 1 lakh sq ft manufacturing facility on four acres in E-City (formerly Fab City) near here. The construction will be completed in the next 6-8 months, Mr. Reddy said. Together, the two facilities would have a capacity of 300 MW solar and 1GWh of lithium battery equipment. Regarding headcount, he said that the company has committed to have 250 people.
According to a release, the firm is setting up fully integrated and customisable system solution facilities for solar panels, lithium battery packs and electric vehicle products manufacturing under a single roof. It will provide technology integration solutions for general-purpose or application-specific renewable markets.
On plans to make EVs, he said that Innolia Energy has formed a joint venture for the purpose and wanted to roll out its e-bike in January 2020.
