GREATER NOIDA: Two men were arrested early on Tuesday morning in connection with a double murder near Greater Noida’s Junpat village earlier this month. The bodies of Rahul and Kuldeep were found in the bushes with a pistol lying nearby on the service lane of Surajpur-Dadri road on September 2.
Police said the accused — Yogesh and Sukhmeet — were arrested following an exchange of fire, in which both sustained bullet injuries to their legs. They had killed Rahul and Kuldeep over suspicion of the duo being police informers, the cops claimed.
Vaibhav Krishna, SSP, Gautam Budh Nagar, said they had suspected Sukhmeet’s role in the double murders in the initial phase of the probe and detained him on Monday.
“However, he fled from police custody. Acting on a tip-off that he was hiding in Yogesh’s house, our team raided the place but they managed to escape in a car. Our team chased their car and nabbed the duo following a gunfight near Makoda village. They sustained bullet injuries and have been admitted to the district hospital,” said Krishna.
During questioning, the SSP said, “Yogesh and Sukhmeet told us that they had recently been to jail for petty crimes and suspected Rahul of sharing their whereabouts with the police. They also told us that they had also included Saurabh Rana in their plan. Efforts are on to nab him as well.”
“Yogesh called Rahul on September 1 and asked to meet him on the main road. However, Rahul brought Kuldeep with him and the accused took both of them to a farm in Junpat village where Sukhmeet and Saurabh were already waiting. The trio shot the duo dead and dumped their bodies on the service road,” said Krishna.

“The accused purposely left a country-made pistol at the crime scene to confuse police,” he added.
Both Kuldeep and Rahul worked in separate private companies and lived in Shiv Vatika Colony in Dadri. While Rahul was to get married in October, Kuldeep was single.
