GUWAHATI: The complete list of 3,11,21,004 people, who have been found eligible for inclusion in the
National Register of Citizens (NRC), will be put up in
public domain on
September 14. However, those excluded will have wait for some more time to get their certificates of rejection.
It is mandatory for the excluded persons, who have to appeal in foreigners' tribunals now, to submit certified copies of the NRC citing the reason for their exclusion to the tribunal along with other documents in support of their claims for inclusion in the NRC.
The final NRC published on August 31 was a supplementary list that showed the status of those excluded in the final draft NRC published last year.
In a statement, NRC authorities on Tuesday said, "...queries are being received from the public about publication of results of all members of a family irrespective of their involvement in the claims and objections process. The results for the complete family will be available for display online from 14thth September, 2019."
On the issue of the certified copies of rejection, the NRC authorities stated, "The public are aware that the hearings have been held at various venues away from their designated NSKs (NRC Seva Kendra). The process of collection of the orders passed by NRC officers is being carried out to enable early availability of the same to the public to file appeals. Time frame for this process will be announced shortly."
The process of receipt of application forms started during the end of May, 2015 and ended on August 31 the same year. A total of 3,30,27,661 members applied through 68,37,660 applications. The particulars submitted by the applicants were taken up for scrutiny to determine eligibility of their inclusion in the NRC.
The complete draft NRC, which contained the names of 2,89,83,677 people, was published on July 30 last year. Around 40 lakh were found ineligible but were given one more opportunity to file claims. However, only 36,26,630 excluded persons filed claims which have been verified. There were also 1,87,633 objections filed against those whose names had appeared in the complete draft.
An additional draft exclusions list was published on June 26 this year in which the names of 1,02,462 people, who were included in the complete draft in 2018, were dropped after they were found to be either declared foreigners, 'doubtful' voters or had pending cases in foreigners' tribunals. In the final list drawn up on August 31, 19,06,657 people, including the 4.4 lakh who did not submit claims, were excluded. Those who are not satified with the outcome of the claims and objections process can now file appeal before the foreigners tribunals.
