The Kalaburagi Police arrested five persons, all aged between 19 and 35, in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Fayaz Huraan Shaikh of Khwaja Colony who was abducted and killed near Hagaraga Cross on the outskirts of Kalaburagi city on the night of April 24.
The accused have been identified as Siraj Ahmed (35) of Rehmat Nagar, Mastan Mehtaab Patel (25) of Mashaq Colony near Azadpur, Mohammad Sameer Shoukat (20) of Firdous Colony, Sheikh Zameeruddin (19) and Javed Ahmed Mohammad Saleem (24) of Zam Zam Colony. All the accused have been taken into judicial custody. The police have recovered an autorickshaw from them. Earlier, the police arrested three persons in connection with the murder.
On the night of April 24, three youths, Fayaz Sheikh, Imran and Yakub, were abducted from an area near Peer Bengali Dargah and were taken to an isolated place near Hagaraga Cross and attacked with lethal weapons. The assailants fled the scene after failing in their attempt to kill the other two. Fayaz Sheikh was killed on the spot. The other two suffered injuries. A case was registered by Gulbarga University Police.
