Global retail giant Amazon launches a new online gardening store in Australia to challenge Bunnings - but they won't be delivering sausages
- The new online category will sell pool supplies, outdoor furniture and barbecues
- The garden category, which launched on Tuesday, poses a threat to Bunnings
- Bunnings has a hold of over 20 per cent of the gardening supplies market
Global retail giant Amazon is hoping to challenge Bunnings Warehouse's strong grip on the Australian gardening and hardware market by launching a new online store.
The online-only Garden Store, which launched on Tuesday, sells gardening and pool supplies as well as outdoor furniture, barbecues and tools.
Bunnings commands more than 20 per cent of the $13.5billion gardening supplies and hardware market in Australia.
Amazon is aiming to get themselves a slice of the market as they continue to expand following their launch in Australia in 2017.

'Australians love the outdoors and as the temperature starts to warm up, there's no better time to get outside and relax, unwind or entertain in your outdoor space,' Amazon Australia country manager Rocco Braeuniger said.
'Our new garden store has a range of enticing outdoor products from gardening equipment to pool supplies to patio furniture to BBQs.
'Our Garden store adds to the over 125 million products already available on Amazon.com.au, underscored by great value and fast delivery.'
The Amazon store will not be selling plants, plumbing or raw construction goods, all of which are sold at Bunnings.
Bunnings managing director Mike Schneider said he welcomed Amazon into the gardening business but believed his stores provide more than just convenience.
'Having our team of experts in-store means we are also able to offer great service to run alongside our online transaction capability,' Mr Schneider said in a statement.

Amazon is entering Bunnings' turf as they continue to provide Australian customers with more product categories following their launch in late 2017
Trent Rigby, senior strategist at Retail Oasis, said Amazon's gardening store will pose a strong challenge to Bunnings and other stores.
'With the scale and speed that Amazon operates at, they're a big threat in whatever category they choose to go into,' Mr Rigby told The Sydney Morning Herald.
'Not only will they compete on price, but the direct delivery option is more appealing and convenient than click and collect.'
