UP: 12 of family fall ill, say served dinner with lizard in it

AGRA: Returning from Vrindavan after celebrating Radhaastmi, a family of 14 members hailing from Pilibhit fell ill after they ate dinner which allegedly had a dead lizard in it. Twelve of them, including four children and three elderly people, suffered from food poisoning. All are said to be better.
On Sunday night, the family stopped at an eatery just outside Kasganj railway station, where they had dinner and were taken ill.

Residents of Pilibhit’s Puranpur, the family was heading home. The family boarded the Mathura-Kasganj passenger train. After alighting at Kasganj, they were to board another train for Pilibhit. Since they had time before taking the next train, they decided to have dinner at an eatery.
Yogendra Kumar, additional district magistrate of Kasganj, said, “ A total 12 members of the family fell ill due to food poisoning. The victims were taken to the district hospital and after medical aid, they were discharged on Monday morning. The family claimed, that they were served dinner which had a dead lizard in it. They showed us a picture of the dead lizard but failed to give physical evidence (dead lizard). We have sent three samples of the food from the eatery to a laboratory for testing. Further action will be taken if the eatery is found guilty. The victims have returned home,” he added.
