AHMEDABAD: A woman, Urvashi alias Guddi Parmar, lodged a complaint with women’s police on Sunday, accusing her husband and in-laws of torturing her on various pretexts. They allegedly taunted her over the couple not having a child and ill-treated her. The complainant stated that her husband wrongfully accused her of having an extra-marital affair and sent vulgar messages to her mother and relatives on social media.
The FIR states that once Urvashi had to visit her parents to attend her brother’s Karan’s wedding. “After two days Jatin called up and said he will not attend the wedding and wants a divorce from her. Urvashi didn’t agree to a divorce, and since then no one from her matrimonial family has come to take her back,” said a senior police official.
The woman has alleged that she was being tortured for the last eight years by her husband Jatin Parmar, his parents Gangaram and Lalita, and Jatin’s elder brother Girish and her sister-in-law Parul.
Urvashi, who currently lives with her parents in Danilimda, stated in the FIR that since her marriage in 2011 she had constantly been tortured by her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

“According to the complaint, Urvashi’s husband accused her of having an extramarital affair and used to abuse and torture her. Her father-in-law used to take his son’s side and also abuse her. She has alleged that her father-in-law used to tell her husband to get rid of her and that he would get a new wife for him,” said a women’s police official.
Police sources said after the intervention of elders in the family, the couple had gone to stay at a rented house in Sindhu Bhavan area. “However, there too her husband used to return home drunk and accuse her of having an extramarital affair,” the FIR states.
