PUNE: RESQ charitable trust which has been working in collaboration with the Pune Forest Department to rescue the wild animals has launched its a new wildlife helpline number recently.

“We already had a helpline number for the domestic animals, but now we have started a 24X7 helpline number ‘9172511100’ dedicated for the rescue of wild animals last week,” said Tuhin Satarkar head of rescue at RESQ charitable trust.

He further added, “We have a transit cell for animals with a dedicated team and transit facility is available for wild animals from doctors to operation theatre. Every rescue operation and treatment of wild animals is done under the Forest Department guidelines.”

“We have been working with RESQ for last six months and recently, they have started their wildlife helpline number. Earlier, we used to ask them to rescue particular animal but now with this helpline number, people can directly reach out to us as it will maximise our reach,” said A Shreelakshmi, Deputy Conservator of Forest.

She also mentioned that every rescue operation carried by RESQ is done under the guidance and proper technical assistance of the Forest Department.

“By collaborating with RESQ, we are trying to expand our reach. The team has to intimidate us about all the rescue operations and also need to take prior permission before releasing any animal.”
