Mother kills baby boy in Hubballi

HUBBALLI: A mother allegedly murdered her 16-month-old baby in Somanal village of Karatagi taluk, Koppal district, on Monday.
Kavita alias Pratima Shashidhar Mudagal, 25, killed the baby boy Abhinav when her husband had gone to work at a petrol bunk in Karatagi.
Shashidhar Mudagal, husband of the accused, has said in a complaint that Pratima used to quarrel with him as he was jobless. "I had joined a petrol bunk on Monday and I had gone to work there. I left home at 5am. Me and Kavita were living in a room at first floor of our house. My brother also lives with us. My mother called me in the evening saying Pratima is not opening door since morning. I rushed home and saw the baby dead. Pratima told me that she killed the baby," he said.
Locals said that Pratima had tried to commit suicide 2-3 times in the past.
Karatagi police have taken Pratima for interrogation and registered a case.
