Aaditya Thackeray demands probe against Aarey consultancy

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday came out in support of 'save Aarey campaign,' demanding a probe on Aarey consultancy and questioned the money spent on the consultancy?
Talking to media Thackeray said, “How can MMRCL say Metro project cannot go ahead if the proposed car shed is moved out of Aarey.” He demanded to replace MD of the MMRCL Ashwini Bhide with a capable officer as the public outcry is only related to MMRCL unlike MMRDA.
Thackeray added that Sena is not against the Metro project but to save the environment and its biodiversity.
“It's not just about trees, it's about bio-diversity. The government should listen to the voice of the people,” said Thackeray.
Thackeray made a presentation before the media on wildlife and biodiversity of Aarey area with photographs. Thackeray demanded that Aarey should be declared as forest.
When asked about Sena being a ruling party in the state, he said, I am here as a Mumbaikar and revealing the facts about Aarey biodiversity as the issue is not only about few trees.”
