'Damn, girl!' Obese woman loses 40kg on This Time Next Year after being dumped by her husband six weeks into their marriage - leaving host Karl Stefanovic stunned
Karl Stefanovic's feel-good reality show This Time Next Year has featured an array of inspiring stories so far this season.
But it was an obese woman who dropped 40kg in 12 months that really left the Channel Nine star gobsmacked on Monday night.
After being dumped by her husband on her birthday, just six weeks after their wedding, mother-of-two Amanda Hobson applied for the show in a bid to achieve her weight loss goals.

'[The weight loss] is pretty important. I've just had a crappy year and I think I'd like to feel like "me" when I'm 40,' she told Karl.
After admitting that she weighed 110kg, Amanda explained that she had 'always struggled' to maintain a healthy size.
'I'm an emotional eater. You know, I go on a diet and it's great. I lost 20 kilos and then I put 25 on... I do that basically every year,' she said tearfully.

'Why have you decided to do something about it now?' asked Karl.
Amanda replied that her weight had reached a point where it could threaten her life.
'I have a heart condition so I see a doctor fairly frequently,' she said. 'And when they turn around and tell you you're obese, it's kind of is a wake-up call.'

'I'm not setting a good example for my kids': Amanda told Karl that she was determined to lose weight for her children (pictured), who were in the studio audience
'Do you know what that means, when they tell you that though?' Karl asked.
'It pretty much means you're going to die because you're fat,' Amanda responded, fighting back tears.
She added that she wants to lose weight for her children, who were watching from the studio audience, because she isn't ready to leave them behind.

The big reveal: Amanda managed to lose an impressive 40kg in 12 months, returning to the stage to showcase her new look. Pictured before her weight loss (left) and after (right)
'I hate myself, I hate the way I look, I hate the way I feel, I'm not setting a good example for my kids,' she wept.
Having enlisted the help of two personal trainers, Amanda was determined to lose weight over the next 12 months by following a six-day-a-week workout regimen.
'This is my year. I'm reclaiming myself. I'm putting myself first!' she announced.

'Damn girl! Returning to the stage after her year-long transformation, Karl's jaw hit the floor as Amanda sashayed through the doors in a slinky grey dress
