Punjab: 6 MLAs appointed advisers to CM; SAD calls it political bribery

PATIALA: Reacting to the appointment of six MLAs as advisers to the chief minister - five in the rank and status of cabinet minister and one in the rank and status of minister of state- the Shiromani Akali Dal on Tuesday said that it was nothing less than political bribery.

Senior vice-president of Shiromani Akali Dal, Prem Singh Chandumajra, said that while several government employees were struggling to get their salaries released, the state government was doling out largesse to its MLAs.
Chandumajra said the state government has failed to provide even a small financial relief to a large number of residents affected by the recent floods. "It is highly irresponsible on the part of the state government to forget the common people and to please its own MLAs,” he said, adding this spoke poorly of the state of governance that the state government was providing to its people.
