Directed by Andres Muschietti, It Chapter 2 floats to Number 1 ranking with $185 million globally, making it the second-highest horror box office debut.
Starring Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy and Bill Hader, the film is the sequel of It, and the storyline begins 27 years after the Losers Club encountered the terrifying Pennywise. They’ve all grown up and moved away, until a devastating phone call brings them back together in the town of Derry, Maine.
Based on the book written by Stephen King, It Chapter 2 opened to a whopping $91 million in the US. It had collected $123 million domestically during its opening weekend. The R-Rated film collected $94 million from 75 markets, totalling the worldwide box office collection to $185 million.
The film received mixed reviews by the critics and the audiences. It was ranked 7.1 out of 10 by IMDb while it has only 63 per cent votes on Rotten Tomatoes.
While some criticised the film for its time duration, others praised the drama and the performances of the actors, especially Bill Hader.
Film Critic Johnny Oleksinski from New York Post stated “It: Chapter Two is a very fine follow-up to the most successful horror film ever.”
