Honda debuted the final production version of its highly anticipated electric car at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, and it has already drawn 40,000 prospective customers to place a reservation ahead of first deliveries in summer 2020. The Japanese car maker will officially open the order books in selected markets in Europe this month.

The base version of the Honda e comes with s a 134 HP (136 PS) electric motor while there’s also the option of a more powerful 152 HP (154 PS) derivative. In both cases, the electric powertrain features a 35.5 kWh battery pack that delivers up to 137 miles (220 km) of driving range from a full charge.

The more powerful “Advance” version of the Honda e will start from €32,470 in Germany and from £28,660 in the UK. The British arm of the Japanese car maker also announced that the Honda e will be available on finance, starting from £299 per month for the base model.

The cabin looks like one of the most inviting places in the compact class, featuring a minimal dashboard that hosts a five-screen full-width setup. The driver instrument cluster measures 8.8 inches in diameter while next to it sit the dual 12.3-inch touchscreen displays for the infotainment, which is fitted with Honda’s new Personal Assistant, an AI-powered voice command system. The outer two screen display the image from the door-mounted rear-view cameras.
