COIMBATORE: Superintendent of police (crime against women and children), Chennai, V Jayashree instructed police officials to file chargesheets against accused booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act within 60 days.
She held a meeting with ADSP GS Anitha (CWC),
Coimbatore district, and inspectors of police from all women police stations at the city police Commissionerate here on Monday. She said the children in conflict with law cases should be cleared quickly.
The meeting was arranged for officials who are dealing with the cases under POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act in Coimbatore range (Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirupur and
Erode districts). ADSPs and all women police inspectors took part in the meeting.
Addressing among the police officials, Jayashree said officials should visit schools often and interact with minor girls and boys. They should create awareness among the children. Now, many cases were reported under POCSO due to the sensitization programmes among the children.
She said many juveniles were facing cases particularly theft charges and these children in conflict with law related cases should be cleared quickly.
She also interacted with the police officials and reviewed the pendency of POCSO cases.
