BJP launches campaign centred around Raghubar Das

RANCHI: The state BJP on Monday formally launched the ‘Ghar Ghar Raghubar’ campaign ahead of the upcoming assembly polls with its MLAs starting mass connect campaigns through padyatras and meetings.
The BJP-led NDA won 12 out of 14 seats in the recent Lok Sabha polls and the saffron party has set a target of winning 65-plus seats in the 81-member assembly. The party, which has 43 MLAs in the state, will again contst the polls with Ajsu Party.
In 2014, the party contested the assembly polls riding PM Narendra Modi’s popularity and did not name a CM candidate. This time, chief minister Raghubar Das will be party’s central figure even though it may not formally declare a CM candidate anytime soon.
State urban department minister C P Singh was among the first to launch his campaign . Around 11 am on Monday, he started a padyatra from his residential office flanked by hundreds of supporters equipped with party flags and banners.
“BJP’s double engine government, both at the Centre and the state, has ensured stability and development process here. We are out to tell the people about our work in the last five years and to seek their support. The wind is blowing in our favour,” Singh, a five-time MLA from the Ranchi assembly constituency, said.
Naveen Jaiswal, Singh’s counterpart from the Hatia assembly seat, led a similar rally from Patel Nagar at 1.30pm. A JVM-P turncoat, Jaiswal defected to BJP after winning from the constituency in the 2014 assembly elections. Kanke MLA Jitu Charan Ram said he launched the campaign from Gonda area at 3 pm.

The campaign was launched outside Ranchi too. Anant Ojha, Rajmahal MLA and a core committee member of the BJP state unit, said that he began his jansampark abhiyaan from Mahadevganj at Gaditola’s booth number 41. “The response is good and BJP is sure to achieve its 65-plus target,” he opined.
Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Rai, however, was an exception as it was learnt that his public connect programme was themed on ‘Ghar Ghar BJP, Ghar Ghar Kamal’. Last week, he had objected to the Ghar Ghar Raghubar campaign, tweeting that he had spoken to state BJP president Laxam Gilua and asked him him to avoid idolising any individual.
