Lalbaugcha Raja receives bounty of gold-silver despite recession

So far the mandal has received 3.250kg of gold and 40kg of silver.
MUMBAI: The Lalbaugcha Raja Ganpati mandal is counting its treasures this year too, despite rain and recession.
Its bullion hundi was opened to discover its richest ever offering, a golden thali set complete with two bowls, two spoons and a golden glass valued at Rs 50 lakh approximately. The set weighs 1,237gm.

Aside from this, a golden brick, which the mandal calls Cadbury, weighing 1kg, a 500gm pair of silver feet lacquered with gold, a large studded finger ring of 30gm are part of the hoard. So far, the mandal has received 3.250kg of gold and 40kg of silver.

The cash collection amounts to Rs 3.84 crore till the seventh day of Ganeshotsav.
Last year's total collection amounted to Rs 9 crore, says treasurer Mangesh Dalvi.
