MUMBAI: A 62-year-old from Virar was arrested for allegedly killing his wife as he suspected her of having an affair.
Police said around 12pm on Sunday, Kishore Phutane stabbed his wife, Sulabha (49), with a knife, at their residence in Balkrishna Housing Society in Bhoirpada, Virar (east). He then surrendered to the police.
The couple, who have two children, had a fight on Sunday regarding Sulabha's alleged affair. Phutane, who drives an auto, came home on Sunday and suspected that his wife had another man in the house as she took time to open the door. Their son was at work, and their daughter is married.

He searched the house, but did not find anybody. He got into an argument with Sulabha that ended with him stabbing her in the neck and body several times. He left her bleeding and went to the police.
The police found the knife that was used in the incident. Phutane will be produced in court on Monday.
